Detective Bubbles

As a part of my drawing and painting 3 class I am required to incorporate the word of the week from illustration Friday and a prompt that my class and I choose at the beginning of the week. This week we decided on "Bubbles" and the Illustration Friday word was "Detective." I immediately thought of the historic Sherlock Holmes and his famous pipe. To incorporate bubbles into my piece, I threw in a cartoon-like look by adding bubbles rising from the pipe instead of smoke.

"Linked" Forks

We have recently begun a different way of going about the
homework in our class which I have actually enjoyed so far. We are required to interpret and analyze the given topic by our teacher and then integrate that word into the illustration Friday word of the week. This week I had to integrate "Forks" and "Linked." In my depiction, forks are linked or interwoven by waxy bars.

Final Graphite Self Portrait

This is the final graphite portrait in our up-lighting project. We will now use this to laser engrave on wood and also create a 1:4 ratio on a 40x20 plane.

Beginnings of Uplit Self Portrait

This is a self portrait of myself in the beginning stages of preparation.

Subterranean

"Subterranean" was this weeks illustration Friday word. I thought it was evident that this illustration drew in the aspects of being underground in a sort-of cave in the mountains. Enjoy.

Brave

This is a sketch used for illustration Friday pertaining to the word of the week, "Brave." I figured skydiving takes a ton of courage and bravery, therefore making a perfect theme for brave.

Perspective Sunrise

This, again, is for this week's IF title of "Perspective." I depicted an illuminating sun radiating down on a beach and city scape.

Propagate

Propagate is a word which means reproduction or birth. I used this definition to depict a drawing consisting of a child and its birth parent looking closely over him, playing with stacking blocks.

Illustration Friday 3 - Muddy

I decided to depict this Illustration Friday word a bit differently then before, and used the human figure to represent "Muddy." For those of you who do not know, this is Muddy Waters, the leading exponent in Chicago Blues during the 50's.

Illustration Friday 2 - Focus

Another colored pencil drawing for Illustration Friday. Shows a basic pocket watch magnified using a magnifying glass.

Illustration Friday 1 - Clumsy

This was my depiction of "Clumsy" for Illustration Friday. A simple colored pencil drawing using the "Smurf" characters, giving credit to the creator.

Painting Sketch 1

A simple, yet sophisticated sketch of one part of a triptych we are working on in class.
